Welcome to my digital space! I’m Abdullah Al Nafees, pursuing B.Sc. in Civil Engineering at Sylhet Engineering College under Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. My areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

1. Intelligent Transportation Systems – real-time monitoring and control

2. Big Data & Machine Learning – predictive models for traffic and transit demand

3. Mobility as a Service (MaaS) – integrated platforms for on-demand travel

4. Adaptive Traffic Signal Control – algorithms that adjust timing to flow conditions

5. Travel Behavior & Safety – assessing how design influences choices and risk

6. Roundabout Metering – optimizing entry rates under mixed traffic

Over the past 18 months, I have worked remotely as a Research Assistant at B’Deshi Research Lab (Malaysia-based), leading several transportation research projects. My work has been published in journals such as Discover Civil Engineering (Springer Nature) and presented at prestigious conferences, including ICCIT and IICAIET (IEEE), and APTE at the National University of Singapore. I also previously served as a Data Analyst and LMS Operator at DJL Training, Inc. (USA-based), where I gained valuable experience in data handling and technical content management.

These experiences helped me build strong skills in:

1. Programming: C, Python (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow), R (Bibliometrix, psych, GPArotation, dplyr, ggplot2)

2. Software Tools: SPSS, PTV Vissim, SIDRA, SUMO, AutoCAD, ETABS, MS Office

3. Other Skills: LaTeX, Canva, academic formatting and editing

As first author and corresponding author, I have led multiple publications in both journals and conferences.

Outside research, I serve as Vice President of the CE Centre of Research at SEC, where I mentor students, coordinate interdisciplinary teams, and manage research output. I also run Ami Nafees, an educational YouTube channel with over 100,000 viewers, where I publish tutorials on traffic simulation and civil engineering course content. I’m also an active member of ASCE and ACI, regularly engaging in workshops to stay aligned with international standards in design and infrastructure.
